The plant

Broadleaf plantain grows in low rosettes with strong parallel veins through the leaves.

What's in it

Mucilage is a gel-like plant material. Tannins give a lightly drying character; aucubin is another natural compound in the leaf.

  2. 2Drink 2–3 cups daily for internal use.

  4. 4For skin: brew a strong infusion, cool, and apply as a compress or wash to wounds, insect bites, or irritated skin.

Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Best used within 12–18 months.
