Herbishire — Herbs & Holistic Health

About Herbishire

Herbishire was created with one clear purpose: to bring traditional herbs, natural wellness and plant knowledge closer to everyday people.

Healing From the Inside Out

Our journey began personally.

Before Herbishire became a business, we were already using many of these herbs ourselves and sharing them with friends and family as part of their wellness routines and to support different health concerns.

The more we used herbs, the more we wanted to understand them properly — where they came from, how they had traditionally been used, how they should be prepared, and why certain plants were chosen for particular purposes.

What started as a personal interest gradually developed into something much bigger.

As more people around us became interested in herbs and natural wellness, we recognised a need for somewhere people could access quality herbs while also being able to understand what they were buying.

That journey became Herbishire.

Today, we continue to build on those foundations while working alongside qualified practitioners and people experienced in herbal and holistic wellness. This allows us to keep developing our knowledge, improve what we offer and give our customers clearer information about the plants they use.

We believe traditional plant knowledge should not be lost, complicated or kept out of reach.

Nature From Around the World, Brought Home

Many of the herbs we use today have been part of traditional practices for generations.

They come from different parts of the world — including Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and the Americas — with each plant carrying its own history, growing conditions and traditional uses.

For us, understanding a herb starts long before it reaches the shelf.

We want to know what the plant is, where it originates, where our stock has been sourced from and how it has been grown, gathered or harvested.

That is an important part of the Herbishire approach.

From Source to Shelf

We believe knowing where your herbs come from matters.

Herbishire is developing a supply chain where we can understand our stock from its source through to the product our customers see on the shelf.

We work with our suppliers to understand the country and region of origin, the part of the plant being supplied and how that plant has been harvested and prepared before reaching us.

Different herbs require different methods.

Some plants are valued for their leaves, while others are harvested for their roots, bark, berries, flowers, seeds or other specific parts. Knowing exactly what part of the plant we are receiving is important because the traditional use and natural compounds can differ throughout the plant.

We also pay attention to how herbs are processed after harvesting.

Depending on the plant, this may include cleaning, cutting, drying, grinding or preparing the herb before it reaches us.

Our aim is not simply to purchase herbs and place them into packaging.

We want to understand their journey.

Knowing Our Stock

As Herbishire grows, traceability remains important to us.

This allows us to build better knowledge of the herbs we sell and maintain greater consistency as our range grows.

  • What herb we are buying
  • The correct botanical plant and plant part
  • Where it has been sourced
  • Where the plant was grown or harvested
  • How it was harvested where that information is available
  • How it has been dried or processed
  • Who supplied it to us
  • When stock was received
  • How it has been stored before being prepared for our customers

Careful Handling

Once our herbs reach Herbishire, the responsibility becomes ours.

Our dried herbs are handled and stored carefully before being weighed, packed and labelled for sale.

We are continually developing our preparation and packing processes so that, as Herbishire grows, the standards behind the scenes grow with it.

For us, source to shelf means taking responsibility for understanding as much of that journey as possible.

From the place a plant is grown...

to the part that is harvested...

to how it is dried and prepared...

to how it is stored and packed...

and finally to the Herbishire shelf.

Traditional Knowledge Made Accessible

Education has always been an important part of what we are building.

We do not want somebody to pick up a bag of herbs and only know its name.

We want customers to understand what that plant is, where it comes from, how it has traditionally been used and how it is prepared.

Herbishire has been shaped by generations of herbal knowledge and by practitioners and educators who have encouraged people to look more closely at plants, food, minerals and the natural world.

Our approach draws on traditional herbal practices and the teachings of figures such as Dr. Sebi, Dr. Llaila Afrika and Yahki Awakened, alongside wider herbal traditions and knowledge passed through African and Caribbean communities.

We also work with qualified practitioners and continue developing our understanding of individual herbs.

Most importantly, we want that knowledge to be understandable.

Herbal information can sometimes be filled with terminology that means very little to somebody encountering a plant for the first time.

At Herbishire, we aim to explain things in plain language — without removing the knowledge behind them.

More Than a Herb Shop

Herbishire grew from our own experiences of using herbs, learning about them and sharing what we discovered with the people around us.

That same approach remains at the heart of the company.

We want Herbishire to become a place where people can discover plants they may never have heard of, understand where they originate and learn about the traditions surrounding their use.

It is about creating a connection between the plant, its origin, the knowledge behind it and the person using it.

Our physical store allows customers to see herbs and natural products in person, ask questions and discover something new, while our website allows us to share that knowledge with people further afield.

Our Standard

We want Herbishire to represent four things:

Quality. Knowledge. Tradition. Traceability.

As we grow, we continue to develop our sourcing, storage, preparation, packaging and educational standards.

We believe that knowing more about where our herbs come from allows us to know more about what we are giving our customers.

We are not interested in simply putting herbs into bags.

We want to understand the journey behind them.

From source to shelf.

Supporting Our Community

Community also matters to Herbishire.

Alongside developing our own business, we support selected independent and local brands producing natural products and work with practitioners and people who share our interest in traditional and natural approaches to wellbeing.

We believe Herbishire can grow while also creating opportunities for knowledge, collaboration and other independent businesses.

Our Journey Continues

Herbishire was built from a genuine interest in herbs, traditional knowledge and a desire to make that knowledge more accessible.

As the company grows, our focus remains the same: understanding the plants we work with, knowing where they come from, maintaining high standards and making quality herbs available to more people.
