The plant

Guava is a tropical fruit tree. Its firm green leaves are used in traditional infusions.

What's in it

Tannins contribute to the leaf’s lightly drying taste. Flavonoids, including quercetin-related compounds, are naturally occurring plant substances.

How it works

Digestive tradition: Guava leaf is traditionally used for a settled bowel and comfortable digestion. Herbal character: Its astringent quality means a lightly tightening or drying effect, associated with tannins. This quality helps explain its traditional place in preparations for loose stools.

The same tree supplies both the familiar fruit and the leaves used for infusions.
